Drew Horley is considered a highly sought after Music Producer, Musician, Engineer and Technician. He studied music technology and sound engineering at Lewisham College and is a gifted musician who plays drums, keyboards & bass.
He has won various awards including a Music Technology 1998, UK Hip Hop Awards; Best Producer 2002 (DozeGuyz) & Best Newcomer 2002 (Psychic Phenomena). In 2004 he was nominated for a Mercury Music Prize as a musical collaborator with rapper Ty for his album Upwards. He has production credits on five of Ty’s albums & Eps including Awkward (Big Dada 2001), Upwards (Big Dada 2003), Closer (Big Dada 2006) and A Special Kind Of Fool (BBE Records 2010), A Kick Snare & An Idea (Tru Thoughts 2013) & A Work Of Heart (Jazz Refreshed 2019).
He has also produced for Berlin-born, London based Soul & Jazz singers Natalie Williams (MOBO Nominee 2007). Drew Produced her 2nd album Secret Garden (East-Side Records 2006). Drew has over 20 years of teaching experience worthing with organisations such as Lewisham College & Apples & Snakes. in 2005 he was involved in an Arts Council funded project celebrating 25 years of Apples & Snakes and mentored young music producers to producer music for the album.
Other projects include producing for Emmanuel Jal, a former child soldier from South Sudan who was saved by a British aid worker. He eventually found his voice turned to write lyrics and freestyling on the streets of Nairobi. Emmanuel Jal now tours the world performing his albums and spoken word telling his life story through his music. Drew has been fortunate to have toured and performed around the world with Emmanuel as his MD & Drummer.
More recently, Drew has teamed up with a production partner Unity to embark on a new project producing a mixture of Deep House and Dance Music. Their unique style incorporates Drew’s soulful influences with uptempo housey beats and baselines. Under the name of Drew Beats & Unity, the pair have already played a number of exclusive PA’s at the world-famous Ministry of Sound. They have steadily created a buzz around their DJ sets and production.
Drew continues to work with signed and unsigned artists to help them realise their vision, whether it be a full album or EP, single release.
